WaterBear, The College of Music, was founded in 2018 by Adam Bushell and Bruce John Dickinson, two pioneers in music education in the United Kingdom. Each has more than 30 years of experience in professional music and more than 25 years in high-level music education. The school offers BA (Hons) and master’s degree programs designed for today’s musicians, artists, and music industry professionals. Its campuses are located in the heart of Brighton and Sheffield, two British cities with a rich musical history. WaterBear also offers online courses.
The school emphasizes a DIY ethos, small class sizes, one-on-one mentoring with experienced professionals, and numerous opportunities to perform and launch a career. Its goal is to help every musician build a sustainable career. WaterBear also invests in the local British music scene and operates three concert venues and clubs on its campuses to support the next generation of artists.

"WaterBear is for independent artists, musicians, and music industry professionals driven by a DIY spirit who want to grow and build a sustainable career in today’s music industry. We are deeply committed to the local music scene and live music, and we help new generations of musicians turn their passion into a real, sustainable, and realistic career. We are proud to partner with School of Arts, which shares our passion and vision, to solidify WaterBear’s reputation as the leading institution of higher education in music in the United Kingdom."
